Description:

The Zhuyuan Bamboo Garden Guesthouse is a classical Chinese garden-style hotel located in a quiet lane west of the Drum Tower. The hotel was formerly the residence of Sheng Xuanhuai, the Minister of Post of the late Qing Dynasty 1644-1911 .The halls and pavillions in the building are linked by tortuous long corridors with tranquil and elegant surroundings of bamboo groves, rockeries, and fountains.

Very much enjoyed our four nights in Beijing. Being in the old part of the city was a real bonus for us as it was still very inexpensixe to get to places like the Forbidden City from this location. The location gives a great insight into how life was in old Beijing and flavour you would not get staying in a 'normal hotel' in the CBD or newer parts of the city.

I really enjoyed my stay at Bamboo gardens hotel. It was very quiet and restful there. I was particulary impressed with the staff and the way they cheefully helped us. Thank you so much. I have told all my friends about how great it is to stay with you.
